Hi Audrey
We’re just a couple of weeks into the New Year, and I want to ask:
"How are your New Year's resolutions going?"
Maybe your answer is, “Not great” or maybe you didn't even have any resolutions. I've been there. Done that. But let me tell you something important: don’t feel guilty about it.
The truth is, resolutions often feel like a pressure-filled checklist creating unneeded stress. Life isn’t always so neat and predictable. But there’s a more empowering way to start the year.
Instead of resolutions, try choosing one word. Just one. A word that inspires, motivates, or grounds you—a word that becomes your guide for the year.
This year my word is self-compassion.
As evidence of my renewed effort at self-compassion, I am sending out this email now instead of December. I wasn’t feeling well then and I figured by now, some of you may not have created New Year’s Resolutions or have already stopped working on them and this might just be just what you're looking for.
Finding a word is a much gentler way to keep you on track. So back to my word…
Why self-compassion?
After some unexpected health challenges late in 2024, I realized I need to prioritize rest, listen to my body, and offer myself the kindness I’d give a dear friend. I found myself trying to push through things instead of resting and it just made it worse. You would think I had learned this lesson!
Choosing this word reminds me to center my intentions and create space for healing. Self-compassion will be that gentle nudge for patience in getting my body back into balance. This will allow me to thrive in 2025! I'm printing out this graphic and putting it on my desk.
Now, I want to invite you to join me in choosing your own word for 2025.
Not sure where to start? I’ve written a blog post to help you find the perfect word for your year. In it, I share simple steps to reflect on your needs and create a word that inspires focus and clarity.

Let’s make 2025 a year of intention, positivity, and growth—one word at a time.
Energetically yours,
Audrey
P.S. Don’t forget to bookmark your word somewhere special—on your phone, journal, or even a sticky note by your desk. It’s a simple way to stay connected to your intention!
